In May of 2000, a year after my Everest base camp trek, my sister Jamie, Kim, Saxon and I headed off to Denali National Park in Alaska for a 6-day mountaineering course with Alpine Ascents

The course was extremely well organized and our instructors Jon Holz and Dmitry Sidorov were amazing. Not only did we learn a lot, the four of had an hysterical time.

Here are the highlights of what we learned in the course:

   - Glacier travel Rope/belay techniques

   - Crevasse rescue

   - Route finding

   - Self arrest

   - Rappelling

   - CramponingWilderness navigationWeather

If you are considering getting into climbing, I highly recommend a 6-day course before you go, and AAI's course is awesome!
