During our stay in New Zealand, Susan and I took the family over to Australia. We stayed at the family resort of Dunk Island on the Great Barrier Reef. On our way back, we stopped in Sydney for a few days. Susan was kind enough to let me sneak off for a day to go climb Mt. Kosciusko--the highest peak in Australia, and one of the continental Seven Summits.

I took a 5:00 a.m. flight from Sydney to Canberra and caught a shuttle to the resort town of Threadbo--which being a ski resort was pretty empty considering this was the end of their summer.

I jumped the ski lift to the trail head. The weather was overcast and rainy, but the climb is just a hike along a well maintained path. Round trip it took only about an hour and a half.

I made it down in time to catch the shuttle back to the airport and make my connection back to Sydney. I made it in time for dinner. All in all it was great one-day adventure, and after Mt. Elbrus, became my second of the 7 summits.
