Future Trips

My adventure plans begin with hikes of the Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail, the Lost Coast and Half Dome with Katie, Jason and Lynda. Ideally those trips would be good warm ups for a backpacking trip on the John Muir Trail.

I'd like to complete my climbs of the Cascade volcanoes by going on a roadie and climbing Mt Adams and Mt Baker in spring.

In the near future, I'd like to explore more peaks in the Sierras and the secondary peaks in the Cascades. I've listed the specific peaks in the list below. I'd also like to hike the Grand Canyon End-to-End someday.

At some point after that, I'd like to go back to the Himalaya and explore Tibet and the north side of Everest.

Skyline-to-the-Sea

The Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail is a 29.5-mile hiking trail that descends from the ridge of the Santa Cruz Mountains in Northern California to the Pacific Ocean, passing through Castle Rock State Park and Big Basin Redwoods State Park. Big Basin contains beautiful waterfalls and some of the largest, tallest, and oldest Redwood forests left in existence.  More...

The Lost Coast

Katie, Jason, Lynda and I will hopefully hike the Loast Coast.  More...

Half Dome

Half Dome, Yosemite Park

Katie, Jason, Lynda and I will hopefully hike up Half Dome as a warmup for our John Muir Trail trip a month later.  More...

John Muir Trail

Half Dome - Yosemite

While I have been all over the Sierras, I've never actually hiked the John Muir Trail. Since the JMT takes 21 days to hike, I will probably tackle this in 2-3 parts. Plus, I have to find the right person(s) to go with. Plenty of time though. There's quite a bucket list still to go before I take on the JMT. More...

Mount Baker

Mount Baker

Mount Baker is the last of the major Cascade volcano's of the "Ring of Fire" I have yet to climb.

I plan try to day-climb this via the Easton Glacier. It will be tough because it's over 11 miles round trip, with over 7,000 ft of elevation gain. More...

Mount Adams: Climb

Mount Adams, Washington

I've planned to climb this mountain once before. When Jamie Nick and I showed up, it looked like it was erupting! It turned out there was a wildfire burning on the north side of the mountain. Hopefully in July I will get a chance to day-climb it via the South Spur Route. More...

Cascade Rampage III

Mt Jefferson, Oregon

By this point, I will have climbed all the major Cascade peaks. The goal of this rampage would be to attempt the major secondary peaks:

  - Mt Jefferson - 10,497 ft /3199 m
  - Broken Top - 9,175 ft 2,797 m
  - Three Fingered Jack - 7,844 ft, 2,391 m)

Sierra Rampage III

Mt Morrison, Sierra Nevada

Hopefully, I have one more Sierra Rampage left in us. This would be a roadie to climb some of the other peaks Jamie and I didn't get to when we went on our earlier Sierra Rampages:

  - Mt Agassiz  - 13,893 ft / 4,235 m

  - Mt Morrison - 12,303 ft / 3,750 m

  - Cathedral Peak - 13,943 ft / 4,250 m

Grand Canyon: Rim-to-Rim

The Grand Canyon

In the fall of 2014, I'm planning to hike the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim. This is a four-day trip that includes a two night stay at Phantom Ranch.

Tibet - Everest North Face and the Potala Palace

Kangshung Face, Mt Everest

Hopefully by the time I can go on this trip, Tibet will be re-opened to outsiders. This trip starts with a visit to the Potala Palace, former home of the Dalai Lama. Afterwards we follow in the footsteps of Mallory to Rombuk Monastery, and eventually to the North Face of Everest where we work our way to advanced base camp at over 21,000 ft. More...
